Ariana Delucchi- After visiting HTHNC for Student Ambassadors, I became exceedingly interested in the concept of MUN. After researching and even speaking with Lillian, our director, I decided that MUN is a club that I would like to start at HTHCV, as well as participate in it. The reason why I liked MUN so much is because I thought it would be very fun to take on the role of an ambassador from another country, and debate world issues from their perspective -- even if you don’t believe in it. The MUN program also refines students ability to articulate their thoughts in a clear and professional manner, to think on their feet, and be open minded, as well as essay writing, leadership, problem solving, and researching skills. After the Sophomore wide MUN conference last year, I was sold. Some activities I am involved with/like to do outside of MUN are: Cross Country, Swim (sports in general), lab research, drawing, as well as reading and spending time with my friends/family!
Isela Villalbazo - It’s pretty difficult to pinpoint where my interest in MUN began but when I saw MUN on the list of sixth period classes, I knew this was the perfect choice for me. I have never been the type of person to really be all that involved in debate, although I have very strong and usually unchangeable opinions, so having the system MUN has, seems perfect for me. Also, being extremely malinformed of what is happening in the world, I know this club/class will become an unforgettable fun learning experience. :)
Shayne Cole- I didn’t know about MUN until last year and I fell in love with it. I've always been really good at debating and even considered going into a career in law (until my brother told me how boring it is). But what’s not boring, is MUN. I like finding solutions to things in a peaceful way and try to prevent war. I’m really excited for future debates and am ready to win!
JoJo Collazo - I’ve loved debating ever since I started freshman year, and have continually had a little knack for arguing. After experiencing my first mock MUN sophomore year I realized the importance of communicating and understanding current events. Now, I practice to get better and enjoy learning about the problems as well as coming up with solutions. My favorite subjects are writing, debating, and drama. My theatrical, and articulate side give me the ability to communicate new ideas and concepts about what needs to be done in the world, and how we should solve it. MUN gives youth the chance to express their ideas on serious world conflicts.
Kyla Getzel: I joined MUN to put my debate skills to use and become more aware about global issues. I am able to incorporate my love for reading and writing into this club 4 days out of the week.
Erika Alvarez - As a freshman I joined the school’s debate team and have loved coming up with solutions to problems ever since. I enjoy learning about current events around the world and analyzing them too. I think public speaking will help me develop my communication skills and look forward to a productive year.
Gustavo De Leon - For my entire high school career I’ve been doing debate, but sadly, the debate team was disbanded this year, as the coach left. So I decided to try out MUN after my first conference for a sophomore project, which was a lot of fun. I like how in MUN you have to argue your country’s side, even if you disagree with it, it forces you to have an open mind in order to do so effectively. In my free time I like to read and play video games. My favorite subjects are math, and humanities.
Alexis Corona- I decided to join Model United Nations because I enjoyed the conference we did Sophomore Year. I like how in MUN you can learn about world politics and learn other countries perspectives on the issue. My favorite subjects are math and history, I play tennis outside of school, I also love to shop.
Yumeka Maeda-I came from Japan as an exchange student. I have not much experience with debating or discussion in class when I was in Japan, so I don’t know what is MUN yet, but I’m very interested in debating and adopting new opinion from other students, also I believe that I will be able to think about the problem from a different perspective and progress my English through MUN. My hobbies include playing the piano and drums, listening to music, composing music, and all new experiences in here.
Elena Castaneda: I joined model UN because of the sophomore project
Tristan Bauer- For 2 years, I was in the debate club. It was a great time where I got to learn a lot with both public speaking and researching. Even though, debate is gone I still have MUN. I guess I wanted to continue to debate and MUN seemed to be the next step up. I still want to improve my public speaking skills and research, but I'm excited to voice my own (country's) opinion. Of course, outside of MUN, I like to cook, draw, and watch tv.
Aly Bouscaren - As a freshman, this is my first experience with MUN and debate in general. I decided to sign up for the MUN 6th period class because I was looking to try something new, and was looking for a challenge! Some of my favorite things to do outside of school, are soccer, volleyball, and running.
Alize Janelle Corona- As a very opinionated freshman, this is my first of many years being in MUN. Growing up, I love debating and arguing in general. I hope to get knowledge about new world conflicts, and politics.
Ciera- Participating in my first MUN Conference peaked my interest in becoming involved with international relations. After hearing about the new MUN club, I knew I definitely wanted to join. Now, as USG of Team Building, I hope to expand my knowledge of international relations and policies while also mentoring new MUN members and creating a close-knit, safe environment.
Rafael Uribe- For years I had wondered what the United Nations really does. When I found that there was an elective for a Model UN, I decided to find out what it was about. From day 1, I loved it. I learned a lot about how the United Nations works and what they do in the world. This class has made me want to pursue a career in politics.
Hannah Vega- I’ve grown up with a very opinionated family that loves to debate and have deep conversations about politics, society, etc. I enjoy MUN because I believe that it is very important for students to not only be learning about the past and creating ideas for the future, but to try to find resolutions to the current conflicts in our world. I wanted to join because I like to solve problems our world has more than enough, its important to know the situations and people in charge that can affect all of our future. During my freetime I like to go to the movies and spend time with my family and friends.
Sara Childers- I grew debating in my household, since my family is very political. I joined debate in freshman year and fell in love with it. I joined Model United Nations because I like to always update myself with the latest news and to debate. My hobbies include listening to music, debating, drawing, surfing, and photography.
